Pacific Rim Bloodhound Club, Inc. was founded at an organizational meeting in April of 1996, and recognized by the American Bloodhound Club a few months later. The initial goals of PRBC were to fill a need in the Northwest for a smooth-running, teamwork oriented group of individuals to plan annual regional specialties and supported shows, organize and host an American Bloodhound Club (ABC) National Specialty every six years, educate new owners and the public regarding our breed, and be involved in Bloodhound rescue in our region. To that end, Pacific Rim Bloodhound Rescue Committee, Inc., was formed and approved by the American Bloodhound Club in 2002, and has already helped many homeless hounds to find new and loving homes. Our geographical range encompasses Washington, Oregon, and Idaho as well as California and British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. Our Officers and Directors reflect and effectively represent this large geographical area and the variety of interests of the membership, including conformation, obedience, mantrailing, SAR, therapy, and rescue. Our first Regional Specialty event was held in April of 1997 in Yakima, Washington. We hosted our first ABC National Specialty in September of 1999, and our first Independent Regional in August, 2000. We have been in partnership with Western Washington Hound Association since 1998, holding supported entries in conjunction with the Hound Classic, and starting in 2000, hosting our specialty on their show site on the day before. We have developed a wonderful working relationship with this organization and hope it continues for many years to come. More recently, we have forged a new and exciting relationship with Northwest Bloodhound Search and Rescue in Western Washington, and are working with them to offer more trailing events in the future, with the goal of adding an annual trailing event in Washington, as well as assisting their SAR unit in their training goals as trail layers, transport, etc. We have high hopes that this connection will be beneficial to both clubs and bring Bloodhound fanciers with widely varied interests together to meet common goals that ultimately benefit the Bloodhounds! We encourage new members who love our unique breed and wish to participate. We usually have about 6 meetings a year, and always one during our regional weekend at the beginning of August. Meeting dates and times vary, and will be posted on the Bulletin Board on this website. Guests are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you! |
