Proposal provides for exemption from RT for pensioners with diabetes

Bill 4009/20 adds diabetes mellitus, characterized by an increase in blood glucose (hyperglycemia), to the list of diseases that ensure exemption from Personal Income Tax (IRPF) for retirees.

The text under discussion in the Chamber of Deputies amends Law 7.713/88, which deals with Income Tax and currently already establishes the benefit for retirees in the case of certain diseases, including active tuberculosis, multiple sclerosis and malignant neoplasia.

„Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease with high morbidity and mortality, with increasing prevalence rates in the Brazilian population, thus becoming a major public health problem,“ said the author, MP Zé Neto (PT-BA).
